The Syoum family are the decedents of the grandfather with a great history of 80 years of coffee farming, after he passed, the grandmother had a dream for their 2-hectares, making the space “Please, make from our farm a home. A place where all community members feel safe, can learn, and work together to grow a beautiful future.” Thus, Bette Buna was born.
This natural sugarcane decaf is a representation of the diverse florality and fruity complexity that is archetypal of this region. With a great bouquet of florals and wide array of fruity notes with an incredible sweetness and vibrant profile.
In the decaffeination process, a gentle chemical method using EA process is utilised to retain the inherent profile of the coffee. We believe that decaf coffees do not have to be a compromise, and this is an example of that.
About the processing:
Cherries are hand-picked and then sun-dried on raised wooden beds for 3,5 weeks. The coffee is then decaffeinated by the Sugarcane Process (Ethyl Acetate) process to naturally remove the caffeine whilst preserving inherent characteristics of the coffee.
About the Roast:
We roasted this coffee medium-light to preserve the floral and complex components of the coffee. Due to the processing and decaffeination, the beans can appear visibly darker roasted than they actually are. Roast Level: Medium-Light
